Top 4 Yoga Poses For Pisces

Welcome to Pisces season and get ready to open yourself up to some love and creativity! I get along with these beautiful souls so well because Pisces is a water sign just like Cancer (that's me!) and Scorpio. For anyone that has a birthday falling between February 19th - March 20th, I'm pleased to tell you that you are one special sign!

Wrapping up the Zodiac cycle you're someone who fully understands when we say we've saved the best for last. A Pisces is so loving and so caring and would go out of their way to help anyone. They are deeply rooted in their emotions so if they can stop someone from having any emotional drama, they will do whatever it takes. They make great listeners and being last in the zodiac gives them an appeal of being very wise - of having experience.

These people experience both ends of the emotional spectrum immensely. They have low lows and very high highs. But, when they are on the positive swing of things their bubbly personality can draw anyone's attention. All they want is for everyone to be happy all the time. They are very sensitive to the emotions of those around them and are often deeply impacted by what another person may be feeling.

They have a sense of a world greater than their own and are often very spiritual people with heightened intuition. This aids them in being receptive and just simply knowing things. They are highly creative people and are generally very talented in the arts because with emotions as deep as a Pisces, of course, they'll need some kind of outlet for release.

So, for my Pisces friends I've selected 4 yoga poses just for you.

Matsyasana - Fish Pose

Would it even be a Pisces post if we didn't have fish pose included? The symbol for Pisces is Fish and usually is depicted as two fish tied together. This helps us to understand their dual nature. Their ability to be in two places at once. Their spiritual presence balanced by their physical presence, their head in the clouds dream-like state balanced by their down to earth demeanor.

Fish Pose is great for opening up the front body, stretching the muscles of the abdomen, chest and throat areas. With scapulas drawing in it creates an opening of heart and lung area aiding in respiratory issues. It also increases energy in the body and helps regulate emotions.

Ustrasana - Camel Pose

Like Matsyasana, Ustrasana is an intense heart opener. For these emotional beings taking a few breaths in both of these postures can release some deep emotion and activate the Heart and Throat chakras. With all the emotions a Piscean carries - intentionally and unintentionally - sometimes they need to retreat down to the depths of their own waters to regather themselves. Not to worry though, it doesn't take long for them to bounce back to the surface and be the happy, energetic being we all love.

Camel pose helps with spinal flexibility and mental flexibility. While the physical benefit appears more obvious, the change in perspective aids in the creativity of the mind.

Balasana - Child's Pose

A sweet, simple, calming pose to relax the mind of Pisces. With so many things on your mind, so many dreams to attend to, so many creative ideas to execute let's just take a moment to breathe and calm ourselves. I genuinely think it is impossible to feel anything but calm and relaxed in child's pose so even if you're reading this and you're not a Pisces I invite you to come into this posture whenever you need an emotional breather. Child's pose is also a wonderful reminder that it is okay to take a break for a moment. We do not need to be constantly rushing from one task to the other so when you're feeling a little frantic - or dare a say like a fish out of water - reel yourself back into what really matters.

Savasana - Corpse Pose

Just like Pisces closes out the Zodiac, we'll close up this post just as most yoga classes do and that's with Savasana. An ultimate surrendering to complete relaxation and calming. Don't be fooled by this pose because though it may seem as though lying on your back and doing nothing is easy I find that not doing anything can be one of the toughest things to do! We live in a society that is go, go, go so taking a moment to sit and do absolutely nothing but be with yourself and with your breath can actually be quite difficult. Pisces has this under control though, they are in no rush and know that focusing on their own well being will allow them to best attend to the well being of others.

Happy Birthday to my Pisces friends, you are a very special group of people. Your love and compassion towards others are inspiring and your presence makes this world a better place.

Take care my friends - Namaste
